Tips To Keep Your Family Healthy This Year

Germs are everywhere and unless you keep you and your family inside of a plastic bubble, it can be difficult to avoid these germs. Keeping your family healthy and building immunity is the way to combat these germs. Read on for tips on how to keep your family healthy this year.

Eat A Healthy Diet

The food you eat can be beneficial in keeping your family healthy and to help boost the immune system in order to fight off germs. Eat foods rich in vitamins and minerals such as fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as eating protein and foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as fish. Skip the junk food as much as possible and filler foods such as processed foods whenever possible, which may not offer the same germ fighting ability that healthier foods can.

Drink Plenty Of Water

Drinking water can help flush the system, which means flushing germs and other toxins from the body as well. Be sure you and your family are drinking at least 8 - 10 glasses of water per day. Put water in your kids lunches rather than soda or juice, which contain quite a bit of sugar and zero health benefits.

Wash Hands Often

Make sure you and your family are washing their hands after using the bathroom, where germs are more prevalent. Also be sure hand washing happens when out of the house as well (in public), and before eating any meals. Washing your hands can get rid of most of the germs and bacteria on the hands. Be sure to wash the entire hand, including the top of the hand as well.

Take A Multivitamin

Taking a multivitamin helps get those vitamins and minerals you may be missing in your diet. Look for a multivitamin for your kids such as chewable vitamins, and a multivitamin for the adults in your household as well. Vitamins aren't just for kids, you may also be missing some essential vitamins and minerals in your diet as well.

Stay Home When Ill

If anyone in your family is ill, it's perfectly OK to miss school or work. It's better to keep your germs at home, rather than spreading them to someone else or worsening your symptoms and getting sicker. If you have a fever, a persistent cough, or really just do not feel well, stay home.

It can be difficult to keep your family from getting sick, but there are things you can do to lessen the symptoms and to keep your family healthy. Talk to your family medical care physician about other tips to keep your family healthy.
