Three Ways To Keep All Health Products Healthy In Your Convenience Store

It is common for convenience stores to carry health and medical products. This includes cold medicines, contraceptives, pain medication, and first aid kits. It is important to make sure that these products are all up to date and kept in good condition. Since convenience stores are easiest to get to, they are perfect places to hold over-the-counter medication. Here are three ways to keep your health and medical products healthy to be sure that they are in good condition for your customers.

Keep all of the medical supplies behind the counter

It is easy to grab and go when products are sitting out on the store counters and in the aisle. Though this makes things easier for the customer, it also makes it easier for issues to happen with the products. If you have medical products sitting on the regular shelves, they are susceptible to having the seal broken, falling and breaking, or having other safety features broken. If this happens, the products become unsellable and potentially unhealthy. Instead of putting the medical supplies on the shelves, keep them behind clear glass or behind the cashier desk.

Check the products on a monthly basis

When a medication is expired, it is important to pull it off of the shelves immediately. Keep an inventory of all of the medications that you carry and the dates that the medications expire. Stock the medications that are expiring soonest at the front of the shelf where they will be grabbed first. On a monthly basis, grab the inventory list and remove any of the medical supplies that are expired. Some companies will need the products sent back after expiration; therefore, it is a good idea to keep the original boxing to make things easier. Keep the products at a good temperature

Be sure to keep your stock room and your store at a good room temperature in order to keep the medication appropriately stored. If the store or the stock room gets too hot, the items may be less useful than if they were kept at room temperature. During the summer and winter, be sure to store the medications away from the doors so that they are not exposed to the cold or the extreme heat. A locked glass cabinet is one of the simplest ways to secure the medication. This will keep the temperature stable and it will make sure that no one can access the medication without authorization.
